Unconfirmed numbers of Swedes are dead as a result of the tsunamis which ravaged Thailand and the other lush resorts of that region, and thousands more are unaccounted for, either still rotting in the tropical conditions or buried, as they deserve, as asses in mass graves (see Jeremiah 22:19). It is really saddening to see someone so fixated on a single passage in the Bible. In my version the quotes of Jesus are highlighted in red. He commanded that we should love our neighbors as ourselves and that we should love God with all our hearts. The message does not require intellectual consideration--it invites it but the end result for the intellectual is no different in substance than it is for a simple person--the meaning is clear. We do not generally judge people on whether or not they have committed a sin, that is for God. We try to see the good within the person. As I understand it, we are all sinners. The fixation, whatever the cause, is a refusal to see good and that is an abomination of both commandments.
Topeka residents decided not to rescind a recent addition to its charter which prohibited discrimination for sexual orientation. Congratulations Topeka but it will take a lot more than a six percent plurality to separate pastor Phelps from the object of his hatred.
What does all this have to do with the guerrilla campaign you ask? Well it seems that the same crony of the president bush who funded the "swift boat" ads is now funding similar ads for Phelps to attack gays and the AARP, who have opposed the recent proposals to revamp Social Security. The new ads are even less credible and only demonstrate how to use hate against anyone who doesn't quite see things the same way you do.
How can we stop it? By seeing the good in everyone and by believing that they can change if they are simply, slowly awakened to the potential of love. For quick relief it has been suggested that shop dropping works quite well.
