A leading anti-Iraq war group is advertising a plan to storm the White House next month and "take it over" until the Bush administration vacates the premises.

United for Peace and Justice, which claims to represent 1,300 local and national anti-war organizations, has a page on its site advertising the March 15 action.

"We are taking over the White House until they leave," the announcement says.

The press release is entitled "Take the White House by Storm" – though elsewhere on the site a statement calls the storming "a peaceful event."

"It is our duty and the duty of the United Nations to rescue the people of the world from the U.S. dictators," states the release. "Murder for occupation and theft of land is illegal. Murder of journalists is criminal. Remove the traitors who have stolen the U.S. budget and used it to commit international crimes against humanity.

"If we were being bombed and our journalists were being murdered here in the U.S. by a foreign country's military, we would hope that the people of that country would stop what they are doing and go to their president's office and demand that it was stopped. If we were the ones burying thousands and thousands of our family members and watching the destruction of the homes, schools, churches and offices that we had worked for decades to build, we would hope that someone, somewhere would care enough to do something for us. We must stop the criminals in our government NOW."

The national coordinator for United for Peace told WND it allows many of the hundreds of affiliated organization to post information about events on its website, though the umbrella group does not endorse every activity.

A line on the statement says: "Events listed are not necessarily endorsed or organized by UFPJ."

Said the organization's Leslie Cagan: "We ask member groups that are planning activities, especially around the third anniversary of the war, to list them on our website. But we don't necessarily screen everything posted. … This is not our activity."

Cagan admitted the language in the announcement is "a little inflammatory" and told WND she would look into the group that posted the release as well as the event. Darrow Boggiano, from an organization called Political Cooperative, is the name listed as a contact for the event. The group was formed in January to "combine social justice organizations and political parties for a radical change in government."

The protesters plan to appeal to the United Nations and all member nations to help oust the Bush administration.

"Bring signs that say 'U.N. SOS' and 'Leave Now,' or whatever you would like to say," states the announcement.

"The administration is criminal, and if they will not step down, we must storm in [and] show them how many of us do not accept a criminal government."

The page includes an RSVP link where people interested in helping storm the White House can let the event organizations know.

Dissidents Arrested at WH

Seven Arrested At White House Protest Against Iraq War
By Mike Ferner
February 28, 2006

Washington – Holding a banner that read, “GOD FORGIVE AMERICA,” seven peace activists were arrested yesterday in front of the White House, in a civil disobedience protest against the war in Iraq.

Arrested by U.S. Park Police were Brian Terrell, Ed Bloomer, and Elton Davis, all from Catholic Worker communities in the Des Moines, Iowa area, David Goodner, University of Iowa student, Eileen Hansen, a Catholic Worker from the Winona, Minnesota, Jeff Leys, co-coordinator of Voices for Creative Nonviolence (VCNV), and Bernie Meyer, a retired social services worker from Olympia, Washington.

The seven were charged with the federal misdemeanor of demonstrating without a permit, fined seventy-five dollars, and released yesterday evening. The action was part of VCNV’s “
Winter of our Discontent” demonstratons in the month leading up to the third anniversary of the U.S. invasion of Iraq on March 20.

Terrell organized the group of 15 from Iowa that included students from Loras College, a hospital worker, and a farmer from Missouri who drove 140 miles to Des Moines to join them.

“If not now, when?” Terrell replied when asked why they drove 20 hours overnight to get arrested in the nation’s capital. “Some people consider civil disobedience an extreme measure for extreme times. If these aren’t extreme times I don’t know what are.”

The Maloy, Iowa farmer and Catholic Worker added, “We came here to use two complimentary methods to protest this war. Some of our group are visiting members of Congress, and some are putting our bodies on the line.”

Goodner, the 25 year-old Iowa Hawkeye, said his reason was “a deep concern for the plight of the world. I worry where the world is heading when I think of global warming and war. I believe the capitalist model of globalization is the root cause of the institutional problems facing us, and governments aren’t going to solve those problems, individuals are.”

Bloomer, 58, an Army draftee who served from 1966-68, is also a member of
Veterans For Peace. He said he became a Catholic Worker in 1983 when he was active in the Nuclear Freeze movement to stop the spread of atomic weapons, because he agreed with the Worker’s approach. “They say if you see something that ain’t right, fix it. I see half the world starving without a crust of bread while are resources are going to wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. This is the right thing to do and it’s good to show your colors.”

The entire group demonstrated on the sidewalk in front of the White House fence, walking slowly with placards and banners for about 30 minutes. The seven who were arrested took their signs to the portion of the fence ruled off-limits to protests where they stood, attracting the attention of Park Police who warned them they risked arrest.

When they refused to move, police called in a large team to make the arrests which included six officers on motorcycles, one on horseback, and over a dozen in patrol cars and unmarked vehicles including several command officers, with four Secret Service officers observing.

After police roped off a large, square area in front of the protesters, a lieutenant, speaking through a patrol car loudspeaker, warned the seven that “You must leave the enclosed portion of the White House sidewalk. All those not leaving will be arrested.” Three warnings later, officers approached the activists and began handcuffing and searching them one at a time. To cheers from supporters and under the eye of dozens of tourists, the arrestees were lead into a large police wagon and taken away. The whole operation took about 90 minutes.

Last night, Leys said they had been processed, fined, and released later in the day around 5:00 pm.

The former union representative from Milwaukee and three others are participating in a 34-day, liquids-only fast and vigil at the Capitol as part of the Winter of Our Discontent. He noted the fasters are observing the period between the February 15, 2003 when millions of people around the world protested the likely U.S. invasion of Iraq, and the date of the invasion, March 20. He added that VCNV plans additional protests in Washington and elsewhere in the country before March 20.

Bite Me

By Chuck Wilson

Remember the song, "Found a Peanut?" Well, sing along with this...

Propaganda, Propaganda -- nothing but Propaganda!
Oh, Rummy -- you're such a dummy.
And you're mighty crummy to fill our tummy
With nothing but Propaganda!
Bite me!

As an outspoken critic of the evil elite who try to enslave us to do their bidding, I was particularly alarmed when Deputy Defense Secretary Gordon England told the Senate Armed Services Committee last week that people who publicly oppose allowing the United Arab Emirates company, Dubai Ports World, to take over management of some U.S. ports "could be threatening national security."

England said, "The terrorists want our nation to become distrustful. They want us to become paranoid and isolationist, and my view is we cannot allow this to happen. It needs to be just the opposite."

So, let me get this straight. After three years of mind-numbing repetitive speeches by Bush designed to make us distrustful, paranoid and isolationist, suddenly the deal's off? Suddenly the war and its bloody aftermath, the trumped-up lies about yellow cake, exposing undercover CIA agent Valerie Plame Wilson for no reason other than her husband, Ambassador Joseph Wilson spoke the truth and exposed the warmongering liars -- doesn't matter? Suddenly we are the liars; we are the threat to national security...?

Well, to those who refuse to address the message and spend all their energy destroying those who dare to tell the truth -- to all the so-called elite who are determined to conquer the world for their own gain...Bite me!

England also told the Senate Committee that blocking the port deal could "ostracize one of the United States' few arab allies." The UAE an ally? The same UAE that provided "safe haven" for the Taliban even after 9-11, the UAE that has far-reaching ties to the Bin Laden family, the money-gobbling Carlyle Group and is famous for its al Qaeda money-laundering activities? This "ally" is so heavily involved in sex-trade activity, especially children, that it should make all Americans sick to think that our lying leaders would stoop so low as to align our country with such scum.

So, if I'm to be labeled a "threat to national security" because I publicly oppose a scam of our lying leaders to sell the lifeblood of this nation to the scum of the UAE, they can just...

Bite me!

worst day of his life

Cheney - Never mind America's teenaged military enduring horrors in Iraq, Dick Cheney had the worst day of his life
by August Keso, February 15th, 2006
http://www.progressivedailybeacon.com/commentary.php?id=993

It is rather fortunate for Republicans like Dick Cheney that, the Party has its very own propaganda "news" network. That way, whenever a sociopath like Cheney invades a country based on false intelligence, or shoots his hunting partner, he has somewhere to turn knowing they won't ask the tough questions. Also, having FOX in the Republican Party provides people like Cheney an opportunity to make themselves out to be the victim of their own folly. It wasn't pathetic enough that Dick Cheney tried to make himself the victim after having shot his buddy Whittington, but his excuse was borderline outrageous.

While fielding typical FOX Republican News softball questions, Cheney said, "The image of him falling is something I'll never ever be able to get out of my mind...I fired, and there's Harry falling. It was, I'd have to say, one of the worst days of my life at that moment."

Here is to crocodile tears Mister Cheney! As it is Olympic season, we will score Dick a perfect "10" on the, "I'm the real victim here -- worst day of my life" insincere pity-pot drivel. However, for sheer content Cheney receives a big fat zero! Here is why:

Dick Cheney, because he is an incompetent and unsafe hunter, accidentally shot someone with BIRDSHOT. For this, the nation should have pity on him. "The image of him falling is something I'll never ever be able to get out of my mind," Cheney said. Well, imagine the now more than 300,000 mostly teenaged kids, Dick and George sent off to war.

If Cheney thinks it was hard to see someone fall after being shot by BIRDSHOT, imagine the string of seemingly endless "worst days" of life those teenagers are having in Iraq. Day-in-day-out having to watch their buddies blown to smithereens by IEDs, AK-47s, and whatever other creative means Iraq's insurgents can contrive. Kids, just barely 19-years-old picking bits of their friends' brains out of their clothing, pulling the charred carcasses of buddies out of burning vehicles, and helplessly watching as limbs fly through the air like some kind of macabre joke being played upon them. Yet, Cheney has the temerity to show his face on FOX Republican News, seeking pity after shooting a friend with BIRDSHOT? Pathetic!

Suck it up Cheney -- your little experience is nothing compared to the hell you and Bush have sentenced America's youthful military to, in Iraq.

we’re going to be dead

We will never know the damage that the bush has done to the United States and the world. By the time the final tally is in, we’re going to be dead. Our children’s grandchildren will still be paying the price. The tax cuts bush has been pushing, and his other policies, guarantee that the children of the elite won’t be paying it. And, by allowing roberts and alito seats on the Supreme Court, the Senate has guaranteed that none of the bushistas will pay for their crimes. You do know, of course, that any problems, convictions, impeachments, and the like, that they may face is going to end up in front of that same Supreme Court. One that is even more beholden to our little georgie than the one that anointed him in the first place on December 12, 2000. (Now there’s a date that should live in infamy.) And then, no doubt, we’ll see them turn up in jeb’s administration. Just as daddy bush’s assorted felons ended up in little bush’s. What a legacy to leave the kids.

The bushistas are in too deep now, there’s too much blood on their hands. They can't afford to give up any of their power, and they’ve already shown that nothing is out of bounds to hold onto it. There’s nothing to stop them. Certainly not their consciences. With this being an election year, and with the repugs’ ratings in the dumper, I anticipate a vicious year ahead. And then, when the dust settles, we’ll have to wait for the people we want out of office to tell us who won. I don’t see anything good coming out of that.

I’m afraid we’re in for some difficult times ahead. We’ve entered into George Orwell’s 1984. Endless war to chew up the excess lower class youth. Enough education in the public schools for the lower classes to learn the skills for the menial tasks necessary to support the idle elite’s way of life. And the rest will be left to scrabble about as best they can in the new “ownership society”. It’s going to be a nasty life for anyone not favored by birth or connection.

And then comes the really nastier part. The secular corporatistas and the fundamentalist bushistas will turn on each other, because absolute power will never share that power. That’s going to be vicious and violent, and the workers will be caught in the middle. It’s going to be hard to fly below the radar.

And that’s where I see us heading. Unless we put a stop to it now. The republicans and democrats have shown us that they are corrupt and craven. Their interests are not aligned with those of the people, nor are they compatible with the US Constitution. I don’t know yet what I’m going to be doing, but I don’t see the necessary changes occuring from within the “two party system” as it is now. I also don’t anticipate the consolidated corporate media of america (CCMA) being very sympathetic to our cause. Our own resources are the only resources we’re going to have.

So. What do we got? Mass demonstrations for one. Thousands, tens of thousands in the streets every night banging their pots and pans and chanting for bush’s resignation. It can’t be a one night stand. It needs to be going on every day and every night. Undermining the foundations of the bushistas beliefs through constant derision and disdain. Continuous hammering at the rapacious corporatistas. Showcasing the underlying greed and viciousness of their profits. Posters. Handbills. Haranguing on street corners. Food co-ops. Free clinics. A refusal to participate in the life of the mindless consumer. And all these things going on together and continuously. A subversion of the world view of the right. Make it cool to be a left-winger again. And be proud, dammit. Stop apologizing. Tell them to “go fuck themselves” if they don’t like it. Tell them to “get over it”. We need to be doing something everyday to dissent and oppose this regime. I “
shop-drop”. It has a more personal touch for me, and I can do it everyplace I go. Other people do freeway blogging. Let people know we’re there, and we’re in their face.

A movement that gets large and loud enough, it commands attention. It becomes too big for even our jaded media to ignore. Hell, it doesn’t even have to be coherent or coordinated. Get anybody with a gripe out into the street. The more the merrier, and the more confusion. How about this for a coherent message? Remove the cult of the corporate bush from power, and hold them accountable for their crimes. That’s what all those different voices are calling for. A repudiation of all of the bush policies and initiatives.

Jeb shredding state records?

By Joe Baker, Senior Editor

The Rock River Times

Rockford, IL

A source inside the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation told Insider magazine that Florida Gov. Jeb Bush has ordered the shredding of documents and public records, a clear violation of Florida law.

The department has oversight and approval of state gaming licensees, slot machines, dog and horse tracks, and jai-alai games.

The source, who asked to remain anonymous, said the governor also has brought in personnel from Texas to replace key members of his staff in Tallahassee. The Texans are overseeing the destruction of state documents, according to the source.

A source in the FBI confirmed that public records are being destroyed on orders of Jeb Bush. The source said the governor may have taken that action in response to the continuing criminal probe of Republican lobbyist Jack Abramoff and the federal investigation of the 2001 gangland murder in Miami of Gus Boulis, owner of the Sun Cruz casino boat.
