has the bush lost Redneck City?

While it’s not surprising that the party of social deviants would shelter pedophiles like foley and vicious psychopaths like bush, what is surprising is that 33% of American voters still support bush. Connie gets around town here in Redneck City more than I do doing chores and stuff during the week. She’s told me that she hasn’t met a bush supporter in a long time. That’s in none. The republican party isn’t much higher on the list of acceptability either. So, has the bush lost Redneck City? Even jeb, the ‘popular’ governor, has lost a lot of his sheen.

For over six years, I’ve been talking to my neighbors, co-workers, people I meet in the street, and, of course, shop-dropping all over town. While my efforts have met with some success, I sure can’t take a lot of credit for this change of opinion. The area where I live is, without doubt, former bush country. There’s a lot of faded bush bumper stickers on cars and trucks. And all as faded as the republican party. Just up the road a couple of miles is foley’s district. And a lot of families around here have members in the military and reserves. And, also, just up the road about ten miles is where the eye of Charlie came ashore two years ago. After two years, too many people are still trying to recover from that. And their sympathies are with the victims of Katrina. They are beginning to see both groups as victims of republican policies.

And they are beginning to see both the Iraqis and our own military as victims of republican policies.

There’s not enough decent paying jobs around here, and even fewer pensions. People who are workers are not doing as well as they want, or need to. They know that they will be depending on Social Security when they retire. They also know what ‘reform’ means to republicans. They see the republican tax cuts to the rich, while they watch their own paychecks buy less, even at the wal-mart. It has become socially acceptable in ‘polite circles’ here to discuss opposition to bush and the republicans, at least among the non-elite. They can see NO reason not to impeach the bush and his administration.

I don’t know about the ‘elite’, the parasites, because I don’t hang around that group. But the folks here have an opinion about them. They see the ‘elite’ driving on the roads that workers built, in cars that workers built, going to houses that workers built and can’t afford. They watch them send the military to die protecting some corporate interest or other. They know the republican tax cuts are to ensure that the corporatistas won’t have to pay for all those services that they enjoy.

In short, these people here are ready for change. They’re not looking for more of the same with different faces. They want a different direction with those different faces.

Do-It-Yourself Impeachment Due this Thursday!!! (Oct 12)

The day the nation demands impeachment is almost upon us. This coming Thursday (Oct 12), sacks and sacks of mail will arrive in congress demanding impeachment via the House of Representative's own rules. This legal document is as binding as if a State or if the House itself passed the impeachment resolution (H.R. 635).

There's a little known and rarely used clause of the "Jefferson Manual" in the rules for the House of Representatives which sets forth the various ways in which a president can be impeached. Only the House Judiciary Committee puts together the Articles of Impeachment, but before that happens, someone has to initiate the process.

That's where we come in. In addition to the State-by-State method, one of the ways to get impeachment going is for individual citizens like you and me to submit a memorial. ImpeachforPeace.org, part of the movement to impeach the president, has created a new memorial based on one which was successful in impeaching a federal official in the past. You can find it on their website as a PDF.

STOP WAITING FOR YOUR MEMBERS OF CONGRESS TO ACT FOR YOU.

You can initiate the impeachment process yourself by downloading the memorial, filling in the relevant information in the blanks (your name, state, etc.), and sending it in. Be a part of history.

More information on the precedent for submitting an impeachment
memorial, and the House Rules on this procedure, can also be found at
the above address.

If you have any doubts that Bush has committed crimes warranting
impeachment, read this page: http://ImpeachForPeace.org/evidence/

If you're concerned that impeachment might not be the best strategy
at this point, read the bottom of this page: http://ImpeachForPeace.org
